The Yucatan is every ornithologists dream come true.  Because of the richness of bird species birdwatchers flock to the area.  The Ria Celestun Biosphere is an excellent location where many species can be spotted.  Over 500 species have been recorded including 11 endemic species.  On a 4 hour tour a guest of Casa de Celeste Vida was delighted to have seen 56 different species in one outing and 23 he had not seen before, including a Ferruginous Pygmy-owl.  Throughout the year in the gardens of Celeste Vida avid birdwatchers and guests are amazed that they are able to see so many species of birds while they relax outside their suites.  In the spring and summer we always have a number of hummingbird nests which is a truly memorable experience from the beginning  of the nest building to the young leaving the nest.
