Celestun has the second largest fishing port in the entire Yucatan state. The town exists as a result of thousands of fisherman conducting their daily activities to feed their family and sell their catch for export. Fishing trips with a local fisherman can be easily arranged by us at Casa de Celeste Vida. Picked up right at your door and guided to the best locations to catch an abundance of Grouper and Snapper while you enjoy the emerald green waters of the Gulf. Your catch will be filleted and delivered to you for the freshest and tastiest fish you will ever eat. If you stay with us in between August 1st and December 15th consider experiencing a day of octopus fishing with a local fisherman. You will witness and take part in a unique experience and get to study an octopus eye to eye. Young tarpons are abundant here in the estuaries of the Celestun coast. We have a local guide that provides our guests with amazing fishing experiences. Boat tours to a nearby Isla Arena is a most memorable experience and wonderful for families where you can learn about crocodiles and the important role the island played in Prehispanic times as well as a snorkeling experience in a fresh water spring. A coastal boat tour to the lighthouse at totally secluded Palmar where you can enjoy a picnic lunch can also be arranged.

TRIP TO ISLA ARENA

Full day excursion with English speaking guide. Depart @ 8:30 am by boat to small fisherman’s village of Isla Arena. Time spend beachcombing for seashells and searching for pieces of ancient pottery at Punta Can Balam. This site during prehispanic times was an important trading area. Tour of Isla Arena town before transferring to car for trip to ‘El Remate’ fresh water spring for snorkeling. Enjoy a lunch break before heading to the crocodile farm where you get hands on experience. Return to Celestun @ approximately 3:00.
